Well that rules me out of ever using H&C line!

I refuse to register my oyster as it is not **** business of TFL (Transport for London) what journeys I take - if I didnt have to register it to my name and swipe every time, I may do

I completely agree however I think he means using top up Oyster (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) for FGW services not H&C. Can someone confirm this please?

I am indeed referring that the new barriers will accept the Oyster (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services), and so PAYG (Pay as you go) should not be used on FGW (First Great Western) services until confirmed officially.

Re, the point about they will still allow access to Cafe nero, the cash machines and the lost luggage place, I was assuming that they would be behind the barriers, judging by the tape on the floor which they seem to have used to mark out where the barriers go. But if I'm right, that would also stop access through the metal door (what is behind there?) by the cash machines.

You can also see the tape on the overbridge indicating how it will be divided.

Is the ticket office closure good?

Presumably not for staff, but queues might go down.

Queues will go down, because the office wouldn't be there  Cheesy

I will be posting my follow up to this shortly.

FGW (First Great Western) should not be closing this facility. Rather, they should be increasing the number of ticket windows - and staffing them properly.

I arrived at Paddington at 14-42 on Tuesday, for the 15-06. I wanted to talk to a person about a couple of alternative ticket options. Into the main ticket hall I went.

There were just three manned windows. It was soon clear that two of the three were booking the 21st century equivalents of The Grand Tour, at the lowest prices of course. "But what would it costif I gtravelled on a day without a "t" in its name"?

So at 2 minutes to three I had to cut and run, and get a single from the machine.

Incredibly bad customer service.

And it's the fact that they are irritating hundreds of people like me on a daily basis, with their short staffing, their buffet closures, their heavy-handed barriers manned by bouncers, means that even if they get the reliability right, there's still a way to go before this stressed-out government feels it can get off their backs.

Everyone knows that if they were not a monopoly, they wouldn't be able to get away with it.
