16:37 London Paddington to Oxford due 17:58 will no longer call at Slough, Maidenhead and Didcot Parkway.
This is due to a problem currently under investigation.
Last Updated:27/12/2018 16:33

They announced this on the train a couple of minutes later than the time it appeared on journeycheck and  without any time for me to plan alternatives.. I knew there was a 4.40pm stopper to Maidenhead but wasn't sure I'd have time to get to it before it left and then there was a half hour wait until the next train.. So I decided to go to Reading them come back..

Anyone know what the problem under investigation was? A bit more notice next time would help passengers to plan.. Unsuprisingly it ran pretty empty.. I shared a carriage with only  one other passenger to Reading and it left there just as empty.

A door fault with the selective door opening (SDO (Selective Door Opening)) on a 9-car class 800 IET (Intercity Express Train) meant that the train could only call at stations with platforms that didn't require the use of SDO. Unfortunately this only allowed the train to call at Reading and Oxford.

Thanks for that.. It explains the lateness of the information too.
