Yes ... a good answer. Locomotive numbers from 2-2-0, 2-4-0, 2-6-0, 2-8-0 and you have given me Evening Star, a 2-10-0.

Build by the London and South Western Railway class C14 in 1906, 737 only ran until Dec 1917 when it was sold to the Admiralty. Dugald Drummond designed a class of small 2-2-0 tank locomotives, based on the railmotor power units, which could be coupled to one or more carriages to cater for different levels of load . These were specifically equipped for push-pull working. As built, the outside cylinders were situated between the leading and driving wheels. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LSWR_C14_class

I've been scratching my head about this one for hours. If Whelan is correct then .... I'm still scratching my head. I think Adams, Rix and Brady started leading me in the wrong direction.

Same here. Whelan was also a well known player but not a Gooner. Edit: It seems that there was a Norman who briefly played for Arsenal around the time of the First World War.
