Nameplate CARDIFF PANEL SIGNAL BOX 1966 - 2016 ex High Speed Train class 43 43141. Built at Crewe in 1979 nameplates fitted April 2016 nameplates removed in 2018. Cast aluminium in ex loco condition measures 59in x 10in. Sold on behalf of Great Western Railways in aid of their nominated Charity and comes with an official GWR^▸ (Great Western Railway) certificate of authenticity confirming the original owner.

Nameplate PENINSULA MEDICAL SCHOOL ex High Speed Train class 43 43016 Built at Crewe in 1976 and named 14/08/2002 nameplates removed in November 2007. Cast aluminium in ex loco condition measures 49in x 9in. Sold on behalf of Great Western Railways in aid of their nominated Charity and comes with an official GWR certificate of authenticity confirming the original owner

Canadian Pacific Railway silver plate butter dish warmer, marked on the side with the fully titled company logo and motto Spans the world, base marked Mappin & Webb and date stamped 1929. A delightful item that measures 6.5in diameter, in very good condition.

Poster SOUTH WALES DOCKS FOR QUICK DESPATCH by Albert J. Martin. Quad Royal 40in x 50in. Published by The Docks And Inland Waterways Executive. In very good condition.

I wondered whether to go along ... put off because of:

a) Rail replacement buses to Pershore that seem to take an incredible amount of time (let's attract rail enthusiast types by making it impossible for them to get there by train? )

b) No "must have" lots for me (yes, I have had a quick look through)

c) I have spent far too much in auctions ...

The HST^▸ (High Speed Train) nameplates varied in price from £750 (lot 238 "Peninsular Medical School") to £3,200 (lot 397 "Glorious Devon"). "Michael Eavis", lot 353 went for £1,950; wonder if it was bought by Michael Eavis..?! 

The highest price paid, unsurprisingly, was a Flying Scotsman nameplate (lot 280), which sold for £64,500.

I have been under the impression that individuals/organisations after which a locomotive is named is also presented with a copy of the nameplate adorning the motive power so if Micheal bought it he must be collecting them.

It was bad enough when Collectors Corner was open near Euston.

I know what you mean;  called into Collector’s Corner many years ago and came out with the enamel running-in sign for Oxenholme(£5).
I had forgotten I was meeting a friend at Marylebone station bar, fun at rush hour. Then the long walk to Paddington, as no taxi would take it; an HST^▸ (High Speed Train) trip to Castle Cary and on to Maiden Newton. Arm aching so left it overnight in the signal box.
Mind you it was a good investment as it sold a few months ago for around £200

Way back in the early 80's, I was chatting to a member of the station staff at Exeter Central, who led me to a stack of old SR^‡(resolve) totems from the station and asked if I'd like one as they were being disposed of. Naturally, I took up the offer. Sadly, I no longer have it as it was passed on to a friend who has an extensive collection.



As it happens, I was on one of my regular visits to Collectors Corner, shortly before it closed and noticed a similar totem (not the same one, as my friend still has my original) on sale for £25. I suspect it would sell for signifiantly more these days
