Members of the public are invited to attend an open day at Colthrop level crossing near Thatcham in Berkshire on Wednesday 10 October between 10am and 3pm, where they will be able to meet railway workers from across the industry, including the team who work at the crossing and signal box, as part of Rail Week.

Having attended the open evening at Kintbury Crossing Box, I'd recommend this one.

Looks initially interesting, until I realised it would be even more interesting if there were any trains running past Colthrop this Weds!

That is a very good point - missed that.  No wonder GWR▸ (Great Western Railway) tickets are being accepted on the bus along the A4.
