Not just the LSL (Long Swing Link Bogies (125) or Locomotive Services Ltd, depending on context) issues.

HSTs (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) would have to either skip Southampton and go Romsey-Eastleigh-Fareham, or go from Southampton to Eastleigh, reverse and take the line via Botley to Fareham.

Reason? HSTs are barred between St Denys and Fareham.

Trains formed of an HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) also have a restriction between Salisbury Tunnel Junction and Laverstock South Junction that prevents a train passing on the adjacent line when an HST is in the section because of gauging issues.
