Not just the LSL▸ (Long Swing Link Bogies (125) or Locomotive Services Ltd, depending on context) issues.

HSTs▸ (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) would have to either skip Southampton and go Romsey-Eastleigh-Fareham, or go from Southampton to Eastleigh, reverse and take the line via Botley to Fareham.

Reason? HSTs are barred between St Denys and Fareham.

Trains formed of an HST▸ (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) also have a restriction between Salisbury Tunnel Junction and Laverstock South Junction that prevents a train passing on the adjacent line when an HST is in the section because of gauging issues.
