Quote from: FGW (First Great Western) (First Great Western) Website
18:00 London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads due 19:45

This train has run short formed with 3 carriages. This is due to an earlier train fault.

20:30 Bristol Temple Meads to London Paddington due 22:15

This train will run short formed with 3 carriages. This is due to an earlier train fault.
3 carriages? Can anyone shed any light on this?

I think that 158 798 is going into Paddington! - either that or it's a Thames Turbo.

Just had a quick look at FGW (First Great Western) website says 5 carriages so presumably an Adelante.

I'll try and look out for it and tell you what it is. Should be passed me about 18:20.

As for 158 in Padd there used to be a regular Wales 158 which formed the last train up from Cardiff at night and went back at some ungodly hour in the morning.

There also used to be one through Taplow summer Saturday mornings not sure if it was Padd or Waterloo (for Eurostrar)

I swear FGW (First Great Western) look at this forum to correct their typos! Look at the mistake with Moir L'a'ckhead!

Shame though, I was hoping to see a Thames Turbo at Bristol TM(resolve)!

You should have been there four or five years ago, when Thames Trains's units ran into Bristol on the popular hourly service to Oxford.  Of course, once that service came under the exclusive control of First who already ran the competing service between Bristol and Didcot, it was only a matter of time before an excuse was found to pack everyone off the two services into one train and make the poor unfortunates for the Oxford service change at Didcot ...

I do wonder. Within a couple of minutes of me commenting about a key commuter service missing out Nailsea Yatton and Worle despite being only 15 minutes late it was reinstated. Almost too quick though.

Thank god is wasn't a Thames Turbo!

Think of the deaths that would have happened, had it been one!

Then again, Bristol to Padd is Shorter than Hereford to Padd, and that has been a Thames Turbo often enough!

I remember the good old days  Grin when there was the joint venture between Great Western Trains and Thames Trains. Bristol to Oxford services. The 00.45 Paddington to Bristol was formed with a turbo on weekdays.
