Windermere branch Sunday 17 June

West Coast Railways ran a ‘charter service’ over this branch today, using a class 37 and class 57 top and tailing a rake of three carriages.

Suggestions of a service from Monday?

BBC^» news reports state that West Coast railways are providing a regular service using heritage locos and stock.
Splendid.

I suspect that many enthusiasts will add to passenger numbers.

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards,luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU^▸ is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.

Regular users (on Northern Resist Facebook group - sort of Coffee Shop parallel) are not so impressed

Apparently the Dft are paying for this 'service' and not Nothern. We truly live in interesting times.
