It's going to be quite a while, as 5 (I believe) are being retained for the indeterminate future.  As crowd-busters added to the 150s, they'll be able to run beyond the end of 2019 even though their toilet will not be wheelchair accessible - the other loo in the train WILL be.

Scenes such as this - however - should not be seen in a further 19 months

Unsubstantiated rumour that they will be replaced by Chris Grayling and Lord Voldemort....someone will remind me of his real name.... on a gangers trolley dressed in the uniforms of the girls in St Trinians  great train robbery....
We could also have Alastair Sim doing the announcements and Margaret Rutherford in the buffet....but I would not think that passengers of Northern, GTR and GWR^▸ (Great Western Railway) would say that it is/was the 'happiest days of their lives'. Or that a slightly dippy Joyce Grenfell would either be writing 'Gossage' on the dusty table in the waiting room or mooning lovestruck after her superior officer (Sammy) in the local constabulary !

Correct.
The Devon Metro alone will lose 6 153s by the summer, it's going to be very cosy.

Their vivid red and blue livery would herald a new era in train travel for cyclists and snowsports fans, providing much-needed extra space to reach the Highlands by rail. Initial concept designs for Britain’s first carriages reserved for outdoor equipment have been leaked to Scotland on Sunday, showing a multipurpose interior complete with catering galley.

The internal presentation to ScotRail staff details space for 20 bikes in an area which replaces half the seats, with racks at one end for snowboards and skis. The plans show foldable shelving that could be used for other luggage instead. Ministers hope the first of five carriages will enter service next summer, coupled to existing trains. A galley area with bean-to-cup coffee machine and display fridge for sandwiches and cold drinks is also in the designs.

153 as luggage buffets ... wonderful idea for Heart of Wessex too ... probably not such a good idea on the Cornish branches with the slight problem of how you would get cyclists to Liskeard, Par or St Erth in the first place.

The ScR 5 x 153s should be going from Northern and GWRs^▸ (Great Western Railway) 5 x 153s should transfer to TFW in May.   Unless anything changes, of course.

New images of ScotRail's UK^▸ (United Kingdom)-first carriages for carrying cycles on Highland routes unveiled

Specially designed cycle carriages are set to be introduced for the first time in the UK on a Scottish Highland rail route.

ScotRail is transforming five Class 153 trains to carry up to 20 bikes to enhance existing services on the scenic West Highland Line, running from Glasgow to Oban, Fort William and Mallaig.
