Hello everyone!

I'm a complete novice looking to learn more about the trains I travel on, and you folks look about the most knowledgeable on the net. This might mean that I ask questions that appear to be stupid from time to time, so please be gentle with me!

Welcome Paul. No problem with asking questions, we all started the same way (in my case when joining the Signalling and Telecommunications department on the railway, way back in 1969).

Welcome to the Coffee Shop Express! Hope you have an interesting journey. There may be a few puzzling references you stumble upon on you way to the buffet car but I'm sure they will all make sense soon. A starter for you though is Taunton. No, it's not part of a game of Mornington Crescent but an oft used reply to any of the various picture quizzes that appear regularly with it's origins lost in the mists of Coffee Shop folklore. I'm sure you'll pick up on the rest, although I'm still learning! 😀

'Taunton' as a quiz location answer is one that regularly foxes forum admin Chris from Nailsea(CfN). More than once he failed to guess the location despite being with the person who took the photograph! Something of a tradition now to include a picture of a part of Taunton Station in picture quizzes. Mainly to wind up CfN. Tongue

BTW^▸ , it's also the town where I was raised and (semi) educated. I regard it as my home town (my current avatar reflects that) despite currently living in exile in Chard.
