I've used this connection a lot of times in the past as it's quite a quick journey back from Paddington at that time of night (Gets into Maidenhead at 22:15)

However a few weeks ago the connection wasn't held which I didn't think much of... Then last night I was on the 9.48pm from Paddington again.. By the time it pulled into platform 2 at Slough very slowly we were a bit late but everyone headed over to Platform 4 as we could see the connecting train waiting there (as it usually is).. As I came down the stairs (there were more people behind me too) the staff member on the platform grumpily said please hurry up this train should have already left.. I did then point out to him that if the previous train had been on time then so all the passengers for this one would have been.

His reply was that it's not an advertised connection (which I believed at the time).. Yet looking on the National Rail site just now it's still showing it as a connection..

Does anyone know which is the version of the truth? National Rail site versus member of station staff?

Looking at the timetable it is a bit peculiar - it is above the minimum interchange time for Slough on Monday to Thursday but not on Friday as the 21:48 is timetabled to arrive 2 minutes later on that day of the week.

The booking engine seems to reflect this difference.

So a Wednesday should be an acceptable connection then.. hhmmm  Roll Eyes
