Several independent fried chicken takeaways are shouting on Facebook they’ve still got chicken! Making a joke in their marketing at kfc expense in the process. Plymouth herald ran an article with alternatives given to kfc
Cap'n Jaspers/Dewdneys. That is all you need to know by way of alternatives 🙂 How dare you suggest the disgusting product that Dewdneys pump out to a Cornishman. The. Cap’n Jaspers suggesting redeems yourself somewhat,

Now, now, me 'ansums. We don't want a Tamar border incident. Next you'll be arguing whether it's jam or cream first.

Cap'n Jaspers/Dewdneys. That is all you need to know by way of alternatives 🙂 All Plymothians (new or adopted) know this! PS - just read Rich's post - I've never had a Dewdney's pasty. Sounds like I may have had a lucky escape. I have had a (few) Jasperisers on the Barbican and can personally vouch for Cap'n Jaspers....

I may have been overly harsh to dewdneys, they fill a hole well, but ain’t a proper pasty.

The best pasties I've ever had are the ones I make myself.
My red wine braised beef skirt with onion and Stilton is perfection in pastry.

Beef skirt is spot on but I'm afraid Stilton has no place in a Cornish pasty - have it with a drop of Port afterwards instead.........and perhaps a scone? (Cream on first, naturally!)

True. You really don't want to get on the wrong side of the Cornish Patsy Association.

Anyway, the KFC drive-through (I am NOT spelling it "thru") restaurant at Avonmeads is open again, no doubt to the delight of the hungry workers at St Philips Marsh HST▸ depot next door. This reopening is good news, as it means I can resume my boycott.

Think of the lives lost in home fires as people are forced to fry their own chicken, in overfilled pans. The poor will even be reduced to cooking chips in electric kettles* a known fire risk. The government HAVE to step in and resolve this crisis, before MORE children die, of malnutrition or in house fires. And what is being done to help those who have managed to feed their families only by driving to more distant KFC outlets that are still open, surely reimbursement for the extra petrol consumed should be available ?
*It would never have occurred to me that chips COULD be cooked in an electric kettle, until the fire brigade leafleted every home in the area warning of the perils of so doing. You cant do enough chips for the whole family, but apparently it is very handy when you "just need a few chips for the baby"

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard. It has space for cycles, surfboards, luggage etc. A 5 car DMU▸ is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.
