Has someone published a press release that was prepared in anticipation of a change that didn't happen, or have I missed something?

RMT calls for urgent meeting with new transport secretary as strike action over safety continues today

RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said:

“The change of Transport Secretary opens up an opportunity for a new approach to the disputes that RMT members are engaged in across the country today over rail safety and the guarantee of a guard on our trains. Whoever fills this post needs to respond urgently to RMT’s request for a summit meeting involving the Department for Transport and the train companies aimed at brokering a long-term solution to the current disputes.

“RMT is ready to brief the new Transport Secretary on the deals that we have struck in Scotland and Wales that secure the guarantee of a guard and which underpin the principles of passenger safety, security and access on our trains. With the action on this week this is the most pressing issue facing Chris Grayling’s replacement and there should be no delay in getting talks moving.”

The Tories tweeter that Grayling was to be 'promoted', before deleting said tweet. I think the RMT▸ (National Union of Rail, Maritime & Transport Workers) were too quick to react...

I was referring, of course, to RMT▸ (National Union of Rail, Maritime & Transport Workers)'s current strikes against SWR» (South Western Railway - about)'s (and others') so-far invisible proposals to remove guards from trains.

Ahhh....yes, it seems the first thing the RMT▸ (National Union of Rail, Maritime & Transport Workers) want from new franchises is a *written* guarantee that they intend to keep a guard on every train that had one in the previous franchise - and will ballot if not obtained.
