And today's cancellations on the line itself:

18:34 Westbury to Swindon due 19:21
18:34 Westbury to Swindon due 19:21 will be cancelled.
This is due to a points failure.

20:08 Swindon to Westbury due 20:49
20:08 Swindon to Westbury due 20:49 will be cancelled.
This is due to a points failure.

Cancellations were on the line.   The points failure was at Bathampton Junction.....

This is due to a fault with the signalling system.
Additional Information
Customers at Swindon and Chippenham travelling to Trowbridge or Westbury should travel on 20:32 Weston-super-Mare service from Swindon (20:47 from Chippenham) and change at Bath Spa for services towards Trowbridge and Westbury.

Customers travelling to Melksham should change at Chippenham and speak to station staff.

Customers at Melksham will be provided road transport from the station car park.

Headed back to Melksham from Bristol - using the b-u-s from Bath!

17:41 Cheltenham Spa to Southampton Central due 20:44 has been previously delayed but is now 15 minutes late from Swindon.
This is due to checking reports of an obstruction on the line earlier today.

Showing as 20 late at Stonehouse ... 15 late Swindon ... I expect (paths allowing) more like 10 late from Westbury. Will be interesting to take a look back on Real Time Trains

21 Late on the South Cotswold. 15 late on the TransWilts. 5 late at Warminster and 2 late (GBTT^▸ (Great British Time Table)) into Southampton.  There you go - when is 20 minutes late considered to be "on time" for performance purposes!

07:30 London Paddington to Penzance due 13:13
07:30 London Paddington to Penzance due 13:13 will be diverted between Reading and Taunton.
It will no longer call at Swindon, Chippenham, Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads.
It has been previously delayed but is expected to be 7 minutes late from Taunton.
This is due to this train being late from the depot.
This train will now be formed of the usual number of coaches.

Looks like the decision was made to wait for a second 5 car unit to become available and divert via the Berks and Hants to make up time at the expense of serving stations via Bristol.  I doubt this was an easy decision but the alternative would have been a 5 car unit on the return working (1A93) which serves Plymouth and Exeter at busy times.

Was busy down my end as well, we need these five car 800s urgently!

12:04 Penzance to London Paddington due 17:15 will no longer call at Tiverton Parkway and Taunton.
It has been delayed at Penzance and is now 7 minutes late.
This is due to a fault on this train.
Will be formed of 5 coaches instead of 10.

I wonder if the Tiverton Parkway and Taunton calls have been removed  since with just 5 cars on a Friday afternoon Penzance to London service,  anyone at Tiverton Parkway and Taunton may not even be able to physically board the train.

This is due to a member of on-train staff being taken ill.

Customers at Swindon and Chippenham travelling to Trowbridge or Westbury should travel on the 18:00 Bristol Temple Meads service from Swindon (18:15 from Chippenham) and change at Bath Spa for the 18:36 service towards Portsmouth Harbour which calls at Trowbridge (18:54) and Westbury (19:01).

Customers travelling to Melksham should change at Chippenham and speak to station staff.

Customers at Melksham will be provided road transport from the station car park.
