Just been browsing times in the journey planner for Jan 18 (after the timetable change). The pdf's are not yet on GWR (Great Western Railway) site.

Frome gets an extra service on the 17.07 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains), the 18.07 PAD also still runs. These trains are both B&H (Berks and Hants - railway line from Reading to Taunton via Westbury) commuter services and operated by HSTs (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) (currently). The downside is that Frome loses the 15.56 to PAD.

I am sure there will be some promotion of the 17.07 but the change is no doubt to avoid clogging a platform at WSB» (Westbury - next trains) waiting for a BRI» (Bristol Temple Meads - next trains) path. This train returns ecs to BRI via the WSB up relief line!

The equivalent 15.56 train still runs, now as the 15.33 TAU» (Taunton - next trains), with no call at Frome. The requirement to allow for an up connection at TAU dictates the departure time and Frome gets squeezed. No doubt some fuss will be made as this removes a useful late afternoon through journey to London. Further burrowing reveals that the 16.29 FRO» (Frome - next trains) now has a good connection into an up Paignton, actually saving about 15mins in overall journey time! How about that.

Hoping they will be uploaded soon, as there are quite a few changes to the timetable, even though unlike other TOCs (Train Operating Company) (which you will find their timetables available to download on their various websites) they don’t commence until January 1st.
