Here's a couple of potential pub names and signs inspired by a few minutes changing trains at Swindon

What rail inspired pub names do you suggest?

How about a pop-up pub in the Thames Valley next weekend for those who won't now be travelling by train.

'The Rail Replacement'.

No dogs. No cycles. And a slow route to the bar.

Could you have a two-sided sign with "Leaves on time" on one side and "Leaves on the line" on the other?

To reflect that railway stations are sometimes in the seedier areas of town, 'The Bustitute and Punter'.

The (platform) Alteration.

... or, at a rather more boisterous station, The Platform Altercation. That would be a tied, rather than free house, obviously. Tongue

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards, luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.
