Campaigners have been celebrating their success after a pledge from South Gloucestershire Council to reinstate the 312 bus service from Thornbury (link below.)

The route from the town to Frenchay Hospital was drastically reduced in January following a reorganisation of subsidised services.

More than 400 people signed a petition calling for the service to be retained under its previous timetable, which was presented to the council.

Councillor Clare Fardell (Lib Dem, Thornbury), who led the campaign to win extra funding, said:

Quote from: Councillor Clare Fardell
"There's no doubt that our united efforts have achieved this success.

"Now we need to work with the council's transport officers to get a better service up and running as soon as possible and above all try to ensure that it is well used.

"Students, workers, rail passengers and hospital visitors without cars absolutely depend on this service, and everyone knows that a good public transport system is vital in the battle to reduce climate change."
