I have copy and pasted the text of a briefing note that was forwarded to me from my local town council, Yate Town Council, which is also covers the complete closure of Bristol Parkway for two weeks in September.

Briefing Note: Railway Upgrade Plan: Working in Wiltshire and
South Gloucestershire – 19 August to15 September 2017
What does the work involve?
We’ll be working day and night from 19 August to 15 September along the railway from the
outskirts of Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire, to Patchway/Filton junctions, South
Gloucestershire.
As part of the Greater West Programme, we are electrifying the line to bring passengers
quieter, more frequent and more reliable services between London Paddington and Cardiff.
Over the entire four weeks, we’ll be working from the outskirts of Royal Wootton Bassett,
through Brinkworth, Little Somerford, Rodbourne, Hullavington, Acton Turville, Old Sodbury,
Chipping Sodbury and Yate to Westerleigh Junction.
From 2 September to 15 September 2017, our work area will extend to include Westerleigh
Junction towards Yate station, Coalpit Heath, Winterbourne, Stoke Gifford and Bristol
Parkway station, up to Patchway/Filton junctions.
The work includes:
 Carrying out the piling required to install the foundations which will support the
electrification equipment.
 Installing the equipment, including trackside masts and overhead wires at some
locations.
 Installing electrification equipment in Chipping Sodbury and Alderton tunnels.
 Improving flood resilience at Chipping Sodbury sidings.
 Preparing Bristol Parkway station for the arrival of new InterCity Express trains,
including the construction of a fourth platform.
What can our lineside neighbours expect?
Unfortunately, some of the construction work will be noisy and we would like to thank our
neighbours in advance for bearing with us. As well as the activity on the railway, there will be
deliveries of plant and materials by road to our road-rail access points and compounds along
the route.

How will we manage the impact on our neighbours?
We recognise that our work can be disruptive to those living or working nearby but please be
assured that every effort is made to minimise any unnecessary noise and we have reminded
all staff and contractors to be considerate of the environment they are working in.
Will my train journey be affected?
Over the four weeks, trains will still be running using diversionary routes. Rail replacement
bus and coach services will be in place for some journeys. Bristol Parkway station will be
closed from 2 September to 15 September. Please plan ahead at

Please also note that South Gloucestershire Council is starting work in July 2017 for a period
of up to 52 weeks on the essential repair works to the Bromley Heath Viaduct, located on the
A4174 ring road. The ring road over the viaduct will be reduced to one lane in each
direction. GWR^▸ (Great Western Railway) has added extra time into its bus schedule in case of related traffic

Thanks, Martyjon ..I haven't seen it here, so I suspect you are indeed first to the post  . It's very much the Networth Rail -> Resident information for people who live along the way; only a low proportion will be rail users (likely to be here) for much of the way as it's a l-o-n-g stretch of line without stations for most of the way.
