Yes, indeed ... I thought you might get that one as you too visited a few weeks back. I was most impressed by the way the line captures what I understand to be the historic atmosphere of the line, though it could really do with being somewhat longer. This picture is of a miniature railway (line) set up just above the station - not in operation during yesterday's visit.

I don't think the narrower gauge railway at Woody Bay is in public use at all.

13. Falmouth Docks
Yes, it is ... What's the signalling background to having a "Train Ready to Start" at the terminus stub end? Is that something that's there but I've missed at other termini, or something that was needed in the days of the freight connection to the docks which has been removed with sad tracks in the undergrowth Its not actually anything to do with pure signalling. It allows TRUST▸ to record the departure time at remote termini. All terminal stations in Cornwall have them (St.Ives, Falmouth Docks, Newquay, Looe and Gunnislake).

Graham, knowing you went back yesterday the A39 through Bude, Bideford and down to M5 would have been a much more pleasant drive than the A30. Reports on Facebook from people taking 2 hours to cover 3 miles around the Bodmin area yesterday early afternoon!

I may be dumb but I'm not stupid ... avoiding that was part of the reason. We did suffer a three minute delay in getting through Camelford ...

Is that something that's there but I've missed at other termini, or something that was needed in the days of the freight connection to the docks which has been removed with sad tracks in the undergrowth ... and as still shown on the station map: CRTS (Conductor, Ready to Start) is/was connected to the PIS▸ (passenger information system). Are also CRTSs at Exmouth and Barnstaple, which sent an automated phone call to PIS control so the system could clear the outgoing train from the board. These have been decommissioned due to modifications in the PIS/signalling system. TRTS▸ (Train, Ready to Start) is linked to the signal box, and alert the controlling signaller that the crew are ready for the train to depart.

Well that's changed since I maintained that area (2002-2008). There are no 'signalling' TRTS facilities at any of those stations so what's in those boxes now (If anything)?

When's the 24 hours up? I got no. 12 22:41 today Edit - (and 16 seconds!) As you've asked, Old Original, we can change that to 20 hours which will be up ... in about an hour and quarter. I think all the ones I would regard as "easy" have gone ... so people have had a good chance. I was VERY late posting last night and wouldn't want to risk anyone loosing their beauty sleep waiting up for the magic hour!
