Volunteers are needed for an exciting project to rebuild what is reputed to be the world’s only steam-powered monorail.

The Nant Mawr Visitor Centre and Tanat Valley Light Railway is now home to the one-of-a-kind Monoloco engine and there are big plans to get it back on track.

The owner, Richard Morris, has loaned the collection to the visitor centre with a view to it becoming a permanent home.

Visitor centre trustee and rail enthusiast Mark Hignett is now hoping to have a section of the 20-year-old monorail up and running by Easter.

I think that the Indian National Rail Museum would challenge the "world's only steam-powered monorail" claim - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patiala_State_Monorail_Trainways.

Aren't the Irish doing something with the Listowel and Ballybunion monorail. Although it may be diesel replica.

Also coming to the Tanat Valley Railway - 507001 - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx88nq5jy57o

I REALLY wish there was a way of running preserved third rail units ... 2090, 3051 , 4002, 5759 and 5176 would be nice as well as 507001. I still wonder about Grove Park to Bromley North on Sundays
