What's the cheapest way of travelling from Maidenhead to Watford (any station) while also breaking the journey to travel within zones 1--3?

Need to ask if the break of journey would be in zone 1 or zones 2/3? Makes a difference

Well, I could change at Ealing Broadway or change at Paddington.  I've made this journey already now but it'd be handy to know for the future.

So do you actually mean a break of journey (where you leave the station while en-route and return at a later time the same day) or simply a change of train (they're two different things)
