Whilst out on the bike yesterday (02/04) morning spotted a freshly repainted GWR (Great Western Railway) Green HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) power car on the back of a lorry heading off Countess Wear roundabout and towards the centre of Exeter via Topsham Road.

I always assumed road transfers of this type in this area would be to/from Laira.

Any ideas/info?

Correct.  Movements between Laira and Doncaster in connection with fitting Power Doors to the short sets when they start.    Movements in each direction yesterday.

It was probably 43198 you saw. Apparently there are weight restrictions on the M5 around j30 so abloads have to use the country lanes!

There are a couple of snatched pictures on the UK (United Kingdom) HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) enthusiasts'  Facebook page for those who follow it.

I believe that it's the huge bridge over the river and railway line. There is also a abload waiting area just prior to J29 southbound.

Presumably because the Countess Wear bridge can't take 80+ tons either?

Definitely not with the current roadworks.
