Having been on the wsr in the past month i would like to add my observation of a TSR▸ between dunster and blue anchor... The gauging issue cant be the bridge at watchet again surly... that would just be embarrassing!

Due to gauging issues at Watchet the HST▸ is now terminating at Bishops Lydeard. Onward travel to Minehead will be behind D1010 'Western Campaigner' and a rake of the West Somerset Railway's Mk 1s.
An insider ( GWR▸ employee) told me on Tuesday that gwr were unhappy with the condition of track, and had told WSR they'd only run beyond Williton if the track was replaced for the full route. The gauging excuse doesn't sit with me as they've been several times before They may well have run HSTs several times before, all before changes were made to the platform at Watchet. I'd take what you heard with a pinch of salt.

I'm not complaining about the change, provided that the WSR train has ample coaches. However the return time seems to conflict with a schedule service steam train. I have emailed them to try and obtain the revised timetable. Any further information welcomed.

In the interests of clarity and continuity, I have now moved a few posts on this particular subject from a topic in the Coffee Shop forum's Diary board and merged them into this combined / definitive discussion here. Please accept my apologies for not noticing the overlap in those topics previously. CfN.

William Huskisson MP▸ was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830. Many more have died in the same way since then. Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Latest reports on the UNOFFICIAL WSR website cast doubts over the availability of the booked "Western" diesel loco from Bishops lydeard to Minehead.

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard. It has space for cycles, surfboards, luggage etc. A 5 car DMU▸ is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.

The suggestion is that D1661 North Star will now be the loco. However reports now state that D1010 is now fixed so that we shall have to wait and see what shows up on the day. The Hymek is also available.

Oh dear. Problems with "specials" where stock is running outside its normal area, or that are using trains that have become rare or unique vintage survivor of their class make the problems of the day to day regular railways look easy. I have great sympathy with the organisers, and great admiration for the patience of the customers on occasions like this.

I'm not booked onto the special, but I will be out photographing the HST▸ between Norton Fitzwarren and Bishops Lydeard. Then photting the Western somewhere along the WSR, and hopefully then at Minehead for the arrival.
I expect I'll see some familiar faces alighting.

I understand a green set led by 43093 has been diagrammed for tomorrow's trip. 43002 Sir Kenneth Grange will be on the back (leaving London). Here was the set leaving Weston-super-Mare just before seven tonight. I hope the weather is better tomorrow!

A real shame the HST▸ can't make it through to Minehead tomorrow. Sadly I won't get to see it at BL as I'm firing the afternoon train from Minehead that leaves after D1010 at 1455. Hope everyone has a good day!
I saw the green set with Sir Kenneth on the London end go through Twyford earlier today - I hoped they were going to have the IC▸ Swallow power car on the set as well?

Ah, but will it be D1010 on the WSR leg of the Somerset Explorer? Reports across social media are saying it'll now be D1661 'North Star', a Class 47.
