Yellow warning of wind
From:
0600 on Fri 3 February
To:
2355 on Fri 3 February
Updated 2 hours ago
There is still the potential for gales to affect southern parts of England and Wales on Friday. The most likely scenario is for gusts widely in the 50 to 60 mph bracket, which could affect travel and produce some minor damage.
Gusts of 60 to 70 mph may still occur in southern counties, where there remains a small chance of 80 mph gusts in exposed coastal areas. If such winds were to happen, we would expect damage to trees and perhaps to buildings, possible disruption to power supplies, as well as delayed travel.

Here's what the trains faced at Dawlish yesterday, 2nd February 2017:

I hear it's pretty rough at high tide again this morning.

What's wrong with the lights?
Off side lit for daytime running. Isn't that correct?

Out of interest is there any requirement to display more lights in times of poor visibility?

What I know for
HSTs
▸
(High Speed Train)
is it is offside headlight and marker light in daytime. Night time it's nearside to better illuminate reflective lineside signs.
Marker lights only when in a depot.
All dependent on what's fitted of course. Some modern units are fitted with a centre headlight at roof level. If fitted it should be used.

According to
RSSB
▸
(Rail Safety and Standards Board)
there are supposed to be 3 marker lights, one of which can be a headlight.
Also, the lone marker light has about a third of its LED's out...
I should really have added a pedant alert at the start of the post!

I was at Penzance this morning, my down train being the 0736 from Liskeard stopped to collect 2 x network rail personel (presumably pilots) near marazion. One was in coach A the other presumably with the driver as he got out the cab on arrival at Penzance.
I then caught the 104x Penzance to Plymouth and the two network rail blokes were onboard again and we stopped to deposit them at marazion.
High tide waves were breaking over the trains, more surprisingly a voyage left running a 0935 Penzance to Newton abbot service despite the waves coming over the top of the long rock line.
