Yes, we got there about 3pm and listened to the carols from the church in the otherwise deserted village as the sun sank on a misty Plain. Quite eerie.

Thanks for posting that link CfN. I'm planning to visit later this year. I found one quote on the website to be the most telling of all: The blacksmith, Albert Nash, is said to have died of a broken heart.. “When the time came to evacuate the village they found him slumped over his anvil, crying like a child,” a local historian recalled. “Within a month he was dead.”, he is buried at the village church. |
