I found myself stunned that there's apparently enough capacity in the Central Line alone to handle all the travellers to Central London ... unless of course Network Rail, GWR^▸ (Great Western Railway) and TfL^» (Transport for London - about) didn't co-ordinate the works that they're planning over the festive season.  But surely they wouldn't fail to consult each other ...

Has anyone got a copy of the flyer that is on the back of the seats on the trains about the Christmas closure?

Hmm.  You didn't happen to nick that flyer off the train, did you, bobm?  Bearing in mind their request at the bottom of the page, "Please do not remove this leaflet from the train."

No - I nicked two to get front and back. 

Actually the image posted required no removal of literature from trains at all. I was given a copy at a meeting.

That's the first time I've seen that poster. Took a 165 yesterday and 2 more today. Presumably that leaflet is on the seat backs on HSTs^▸ (High Speed Train) instead.

I don't know for certain, but I suspect there may well be posters at the carriage ends on the Turbos.

Poor planning on either Network Rail's or TfL^» (Transport for London - about)'s part not having District line trains running whilst Ealing Broadway is the temporary GWML^▸ (Great Western Main Line) terminus over the Christmas period. People just don't travel at this time do they?

I've seen that poster a few times but I think you're right it's only been on HSTs in the seat backs.. I'll see if I can see/find where it's displayed on turbos/stations tomorrow when I travel

According to the TfL website, the District and Central line will both have a good service.

Although the TFL advanced planned works calendar has nothing for the district for those days.

So perhaps a recent change in TFLs thinking?

I'd not seen that closures list before - navigating to this advance information is a pain, both on TfL^» (Transport for London - about) and GWR^▸ (Great Western Railway). But, having got to it ...

** It explicitly says at the top that it looks 6 moths ahead, it's kept up to date, and dated 8 Nov.
** The closures listed for the District are:
1. Mon 26 Dec - Fri 30 Dec 16 / Gloucester Road to Acton Town and Richmond, Edgware Road to Wimbledon High Street Kensington to Kensington (Olympia) until 21:30 on 30 December
2. Fri 30 Dec 16 - Fri 30 Dec 16 / Embankment to Acton Town and Richmond, Edgware Road to Wimbledon and Earl's Court to Kensington (Olympia) from 21:30
** The poster only says the District isn't running to central London, not that it isn't running at all.

So TfL do not list Acton Town to Ealing Broadway, and (if true) you can change to the Piccadilly. And whatever is closed, it's the same until the 30th, but that's after the Paddington line ought to reopen so not relevant. So they are not, strictly, incompatible. Just confusing.

TfL's advance works calendar has only a couple of long-term programmes that are more than a month ahead. So it looks as if it has a shorter time horizon, though it's not stated there.

I'm going to a meeting with GWR^▸ (Great Western Railway) tomorrow at Padd on behalf of Maidenhead and Marlow Passenger Association I'll try and confirm whether District Line is closed During Padd closure.

Now there is no need for anyone to pinch one from a seat back - they are freely available from the racks at Paddington.      There is also a leaflet with more information available.
