To the person in Moscow who wrote to me 32,000 times this morning - once would have been enough. To anyone else who's trying to reach me - sorry  I may take a little longer to respond as there's a lot of spray about.

Just continuing in that vein. It has been reported that BT have employed a new contractor to carry out its spam filtering.

While it is finding its feet there have been many reports of emails sent to BT Internet addresses being incorrectly flagged as spam and either not being delivered at all or ending up in the user's spam box.

Certainly backs up my experience where work emails to BT addresses have been problematic.

My experience with BT is that their spam filter works fine 98% of the time.

But there is a problem with some real emails ending up in their 'junk mail' folder.

So much so that I log in to the full system once a week and go through this folder to ensure that I haven't missed anything important. I'm reasonably happy with that - it's certainly better than having an in-box full of junk.

I agree I would rather not have an inbox full of junk mail but it is still frustrating when in the first week of the new contract they bounced over 50 emails I sent simply because they had admin@... in the sender's address.  For the same reason I couldn't even email postmaster @ btinternet . com because they bounced that too!

Seems a bit amateur on their part.   To be both stuffed full of junk and yet missing key messages seems a poor result.   I adjust my own server to let messages through if in doubt - conscious that I will get spam, but at least I don't miss borderline messages.

A few issues with spray - I have tuned a server setting this morning / hopefully very little (no  ) difference will be seen by regular members, as they rarely "rapid fire" post, but it should be a help to the moderator team.
