Had a short trip on one of these infernal bus trains today, didnt think they were any worse than the 143s running about Bristol , besides of course the bus seats which  i must add were not as uncomfortable as those in a Turbo.
So with a nice set of proper train seats and a refurb surely these things could be ok, and prehaps provide dedicated stock for Trans Wilts instead of being sent back when the West refurb is complete

not all are going back once refurb programme is complete.

i have been told we are keeping around half of them long term for devon work and possibly one day local bristol work

Also the seats will not be replaced, but they will be refreshed. This means just new covers with the FGW (First Great Western) 'dynamic lines' design, same seats though.

They may be re-upholstered though. The re-upholstered 158 seats are super comfy so maybe they will make the 142 seats comfortable.

You must have had Richmond seats. They are horrible. If the seats looked like the old ones with new covers, they are comfortable, if not they are uncomfortable.

The refurb 142s are less comfortable as they have full back padding. Unrefurbs mould around your body.
