This evening, I've been sitting in front of the TV (Thames Valley) - watching the headline news.  I didn't come across Jo Cox personally, though I had come across her work, name, quick-gained and positive respect since she became MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) for Spen and Batley.

From being a cyncical member of the general public a decade ago, I've come to know parliamentary candidates and MPs - past and present, of various political persutions, and to gain a little of an understanding of what they do.  For the most part of it so very much with such goodwill and good intent, and against odds and a system which makes progress - but where that progress seems so incredibly hard to win at times.  And to see the level of negative stuff they have to put up with, yet they still keep going.

So thsi evening I shed a tear.  I say "Rest in Peace, Jo Cox".  And I say "Thank you" to all politicians who put hemselves out there for us.  There are some truely great people out there. And more than you think if you haven't had the privelidge of getting to know some of them as I have.

It is a sad lost, to her family most defiantly, but I also think we have lost someone who would have been a very effective MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context)

An attack on an elected representative of the people is an attack on our entire system of democracy. RIP.
