Author Topic: Code Number Required - Highbridge to BPW +Bus Single  (Read 6877 times)

I'm hoping one of the FGW (First Great Western) guards can help me out. This morning the female conductor didn't know the code for a Highbridge to Bristol Parkway Plus Bus Single. She stated that guards are given pages and pages of codes for tickets which aren't on the system and generally can't memorise them. Can you possibly post the code so I can store it on my phone in case I get her again?

Sounds like a plague of lazy TMs (Train Manager, or possibly Ticket Machine, depending on context). All tickets should really be availble on the machine, i've been refused a Heart of Wessex once as the TM "doesn't know how to find it on the machine"

Staff Training!!!

Great - I was looking for the plus bus code in Avantix (Ticket Issuing System used on board trains)!

Bristol Parkway is one of those plusbus ones where you have to issue that separately IIRC ('if I recall/remember/read correctly'), if that helps.

No worries. This morning she let me get off and buy it at WSM (I change onto the 8:30 Voyager). I have a YP railcard so it's ^8 whether I have the plus bus or not!

Staff do get briefings on these types of things put in their pigeon holes but they never take any notice! I heard one guard the other day who was working a 150/1 say "this is one of those moments when I wish i'd read all that sh1t that they put in my pigeon hole", he'd forgot to take his BR1 key with him and got locked in the train!

Why don't FGW (First Great Western) just key all routes onto the ticket machines?

You can sell any ticket from Avantix (Ticket Issuing System used on board trains) machines, including a Golf Street to Barry Links single ... Grin

It's more guards don't know how to issue them - on SWT (South West Trains) half the staff don't know how to issue rovers properly and I have to show them!!

There are quite a few fares missing from AVANTIX, but I think this is down to Atos origin, the people who provide the machines and softwear, unless I can be corrected on this??

The SWT (South West Trains) machines have all the fares I've put them to the test with (and trust me, that's a lot)...

It may be a sync problem when they aren't allowed to sync on the base stations for long enough?
