I don't think it'll be trash TV (Thames Valley, or TeleVision, depending on context) at all - With Jon Snow & a serious mathematician, it'll be geeky - how trains are pathed & timed, etc....

BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) commissions 'slow TV (Thames Valley, or TeleVision, depending on context)-like' live trainspotting show

The newly-commissioned Trainspotting Live on BBC Four will see veteran host Peter Snow and expert friends delight as different trains speed past on major railway lines.

The true "slow TV" would be broadcast from:

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

July according to Didcot's FB page. No doubt there'll be further publicity nearer the time.
