Getting something off the back of the sleepers?

Anyone going for photos?
Looks like it - class 57?

This looks like 46100 Royal Scot arriving after working the second day of Great Britain IX rail tour:

Why would what we presume may be a class 08 need to take a class 57 off the back of the sleeper?

I think the 15mph is a bit misleading - probably just a 57 LE move off the back of the sleeper.

Ah, well I was referring to the post above:

Another interesting move, an 08 judging by the timing speed!

The top link DID» (Didcot Parkway - next trains) link to another '15 mph' service which was timed to run from the depot and arrive Bristol in behind the sleeper around 02:30 IIRC (if I recall/remember/read correctly). Although this has now been removed.

HST (High Speed Train) 'Special Livery' to be unveiled at about 11.30am  Smiley

Indeed: I've been invited to a 'special press preview' - which I am unfortunately unable to attend, due to my being working that morning:

Quote
Special Press Preview

You are invited to attend a special press preview of the St Philips Marsh Open Day ... on Bank Holiday Monday, 2 May.

Celebrating the 40th year of the Intercity 125, on display will be a mix of diesel and steam traction and a unique line-up of High Speed Trains from operators all over the country. Sir Kenneth Grange, designer of the HST, will also attend to unveil a special locomotive at 11:30.

I really do hope the weather stays fine for all you lucky people attending that day: it seems to be a grand day out!  Wink Cheesy Grin

Those who have bought tickets, are they print-at-home so that I can make my mind up whether or not I'm going on Sunday evening?

Yes they are.  Over 1,000 available when I looked on Monday.

Just booked mine- there are still over 1000 available- kids tickets are getting a bit low though- 130 left, but I'm wondering if these figures are simply so that Eventbrite's systems can function, rather than actual maximum capacity. We waited till the weather forecast was published- it's looking fairly good, a few showers around, but certainly not a wash out. I may regret bringing a 2 year old though  Wink He's more of a bus enthusiast. Fortunately he no longer needs his pushchair, and will be fine on his reins.

Just a reminder to all those from this forum who are attending the Open Day.

An opportunity to meet with other forum members has been arranged for 3-5pm in The Knight's Templar Wetherspoons close to Temple Meads station.

All welcome. Even if you're not going to St Phillip's Marsh.

Sadly, I need to be back in Exeter for 4.30pm and then catch the 6pm back to Reading and Swindon, so will miss out on the meet up. But may well bump into BNM et al at the Marsh during the day.
