I have just purchased a number of tickets in the SWT (South West Trains) ^15 'Advance Off-Peak Day Return' offer from Pinhoe to a variety of destinations. Some of them refer to Restriction Codes UM and UY. I tried looking them up and neither could be found.

Can anybody shed any light?

Hmm ...  Shocked

Would anyone from South West Trains here care to comment?  Roll Eyes

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

I would say they're promotion specific restriction codes.
Probably gleaned from http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/Promotion-Terms-and-Conditions.aspx

Just to add that the out portion of the ticket can be used from the same time as the standard off peak day return can be used for the journey you wish to make, i won't bother going in to services towards exeter from pinhoe for obvious reasons however the first service the ticket is valid for for stations basingstoke and beyond is the 0650, for stations between pinhoe and before basingstoke (and some but not all connections from basingstoke down towards pompy and southampton and weymouth) it would be the 0734, any requiring a change and going off the main line should be checked individually as most will agree ticket restrictions can be a little strange and illogical, the evening restrictions only apply to the stations in london mentioned in the previous post

Talking about connections off the PIN-WAT service... As you would expect, the offer is only available to places where SWT (South West Trains) set the fare, but what I find surprising is that whilst it is available to Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh, Petersfield and Diss, it is not available to Romsey, Southampton, Winchester, Havant, Portsmouth or Bournemouth (even using SWT services throughout).

I tried Pinhoe to Romsey for tomorrow (27/01) and the fare does not show initially (presumably due to the change at Salisbury onto GWR (Great Western Railway) in the suggested itineraries). Clicking "Click here to check if slower routes with cheaper tickets are available." then Promo Day Return allows the ^15 fare to be selected for me.
