Furious villagers packed out a Cookham Parish Council meeting last night to show their anger at plans to transform Cookham (link below.)
http://www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/news_article.php?section=5&category=83&story=5510

More than 80 villagers hijacked the council meeting in the Parish Offices, High Road, Cookham to voice their opposition to the recently published Cookham Plan that makes suggestions for change in the village over the next 20 years.

The plan has caused outrage amongst the villagers over proposals to build a new road from Poundfield to Terrys Lane in Cookham and so creating 'a one-way gyratory system'.

An online petition was set up and a copy of the petition with more than 300 signatures was handed to the council at the meeting.

Guardians of Cookham^s heritage have withheld judgement on the controversial blueprint for the village^s future ^ but won^t avoid a fight further down the line (link below.)
http://www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/news_article.php?section=5&category=83&story=5586

The Cookham Society, which was formed in 1968 to protect, preserve and develop all the features of the Cookhams, has released a provisional response to the Cookham Plan and this week the society^s chairman, David Ashwanden, will write to members to gauge their opinions on the controversial document.

The chairman of the controversial village plan stormed out of the public meeting last night with howls of derision from angry villagers ringing in his ears (link below.)
http://www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/news_article.php?section=5&category=83&story=5839

It was standing room only as more than 250 people packed into Pinder Hall in Lower Road, Cookham Rise to voice their opposition to the plan which had been promoted as a blueprint for the village for the next 20 years.

Since its publication in January large parts of the plan have been widely condemned by villagers, councillors and even Maidenhead MP (Member of Parliament) Theresa May and an online petition against a by-pass across the Poundfield area of the village has collected nearly 400 signatures.

At the meeting the public voted overwhelmingly in support of rejecting the transport and traffic report, while agreeing on a new timetable for the creation of a new version of the plan.
