Police spent yesterday scouring the railway line after a body was found on the footpath off the Bath Road.
The man's identity remains a mystery and detectives are waiting for the forensic results before deciding whether foul play was involved.
The body was found by a member of the public at 8.30am on Monday.
Officers are currently treating his death as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to identify him and trace his next of kin.
Results of the post-mortem which hope to determine a cause of death are expected today.
Trains between Bristol Temple Meads and Bath were cancelled for most of the day on Monday as officers carried out searches of the area.
The body was thought to be found in a field next Stothert and Pitt Rugby Football Club and the railway track, about a mile out of Saltford towards Bath.
A section of the shrub land remains cordoned off this morning and police are still on scene.
