Can you spot what's wrong with these?

I fancy I could open the gate without the key to the padlock.

I am not sure how I could use the lift unless there is a call button on the right hand wall out of sight.

Reminds me of a dog-walking excursion around Burrator reservoir in Devon, with some friends, many years ago: we reached a point where someone had, rather inexplicably but very securely, padlocked a five-bar gate closed across the footpath.  My companions were all rather confused by this, debating whether we should just turn round and walk back the way we had come.

I merely walked to the other end of the gate, lifted it off its hinges, moved it aside to allow everyone (including our dogs) to walk through, then returned that end of the gate back onto its hinges.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Female readers of this topic may not (or indeed may) understand that observation - but I was thinking along the very same lines, Surrey 455.  Roll Eyes

Seem to remember there used to be a lift like that in Friedrichstra^e U-bahn station... it wasn't seen as a good move to try nipping in when someone got out.

It may well not have been the case in the example above, but you do get quite a lot of gates that on a quick inspection appear locked, but they are actually just dummy locks designed to make people think they're locked when they're actually not.  It does actually deter many of those who shouldn't gain access if you have a gate with shared access that it's impractical to provide a key to every regular user.

Not sure how "epic" this is.  Still strikes me as a bit of a fail
