Hi all,

Just wondering what's happening with the footbridge at Crediton - over the past couple of weeks I've noticed that a temporary scaffolding bridge has been erected, and yesterday when passing through noticed that the bit that makes a bridge a bridge has been removed from the old one.

Given the temporary replacement, I'm guessing that it's not being removed, because otherwise why bother erecting a scaffold bridge, but is it being replaced with one of these eyesore modern things with lifts and all (in which case, will it be closer to the station buildings given that it'd be pointless putting a lift-accessible bridge aside the level crossing), or something else?

It is purely being refurbished and repainted. It'll be back to it's glorious self soon!

Still does Smiley

Paignton had the same treatment earlier in the year - they'll (probably) be repainting the station into GWR (Great Western Railway) colours whilst they are at it, as has been done along the Riviera Line and elsewhere.

Well, Crediton is looking resplendent (if somewhat pink!) in LSWR (London South Western Railway) colours, so I doubt they'll be repainting that one (I assume you were talking about Torquay though!), and (while we're on the North Devon!) Barnstaple is in rather smart Southern colours.

Good to hear that the bridge at Crediton is simply going for a bit of a refurb, it did need a bit of work! Are the steps being done as well?
