You have the correct country (England) but the wrong end of the country - taken in a town with a station; travelled there on rail promotion business. Someone has to say the obvious.
I believe the edifice in 1 was designed by Alexandre Gustave Eifel. It is not a lattice bridge in Porto, so just perhaps it is a tower in Paris.
It is indeed the Eiffel Tower - and it's also the most recent of all the pictures in my series, taken from the No. 42 bus headed for "Station of the North".

William Huskisson MP▸ was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830. Many more have died in the same way since then. Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Could be East Reach, Taunton, before they put all the traffic lights in.

9. Llandrindod Wells
Yes, putting it into another country (Wales). A lot of the "Wells"s have been dropped, so I think it's supposed to be just "Llandrindod" these days. Of course, if there were still a station at Wells, that would have been renamed "" by the same token and have the shortest name for a station anywhere in the world!

Yes, you are correct. The country of Yorkshire Some clues to mop up 6,7,8? Then I can post my prize quiz. All three taken on the same trip - within the first few days of the new train services starting from Melksham in December 2013. I left the UK▸ by a ferry on that occasion, rather tun through a tunnel or on a train, and spend about a day getting to final destination once I got to the "other side".

Some clues to mop up 6,7,8? Then I can post my prize quiz. Looks like no-one's coming in this more answers and as I want to see us get onto the prize quiz, I'll mop up - Switzerland, Germany, The Netherlands and the final 3 - Thun, Mannheim and Rotterdam Central.
