Following some protracted contract negotiations between the installers/maintainers of the current system an agreement has been reached whereby the contract to maintain the air con units has either been terminated or an agreement for further work has been agreed, either way, 166218 has been sent away and has had its air con system stripped out and replaced.  Other units are being sent away to have this work carried out with at least one away from the area presently having the work carried out.
Will be interesting to see the results.... or feel.... the results of this work!

There were reports of this unit being seen on the Honeybourne-Marston branch...so guess the works are being done at the Priors Long Marston yard

Never seems to work very well and resulted in me nearly getting a soaking last year, when train decelerated and a cascade of water came out of the roof into the vestibule - it wasn't even that warm a day.

The windows should all be locked after the current installers/maintainers claimed the air con units themselves worked fine, the failures were being caused by the windows being opened.  The depot locked the windows put the ball back in their court for the next move!
It was maybe two years they had a management meeting with the contractors.  The two management teams went round a set that was signed off days before as being a ok.  They opened up the vents and found them clogged with dead leaves!

Are you getting your types of Turbo's confused? I believe one has no aircon and opening windows, the other type has aircon and lockable windows which are usually only opened in the instance of an A/C failure. I'm sure someone with better knowledge will correct me if I'm wrong!

Yes, you are correct. The 166s have aircon/lockable windows, the 165s (majority) don't haveeither.
