Tomorrow I am doing a (business) trip from Thatcham to Barry docks. I am leaving THA on the 800 which I hope will allow me to connect with the 845 from RDG▸ (Rail Delivery Group, or Reading station, depending on context) to Cardiff

The section from Thatcham to Reading I know reasonably well having done it hundreds, if not thousands, of times.

i am hoping the services from Reading to Cardiff will go over the "new" viaduct as I've not had the pleasure of that before.

I'm also looking forward to doing the 3rd leg of the journey from Cardiff to Barry as I used to do this when I lived in the South Wales area.

So fingers crossed that the FGW▸ (First Great Western)/NR» (Network Rail - home page) Gods will be kind to me in the morning!

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

The journey TO site went like clockwork -no complaints.

The journey back was a different matter - there was a points failure outside of Cardiff station which messed up services big time

But all in all a nice journey Smiley
