Amman Valley Railway Society is the driving force behind the Swansea 9 Lines Eco Tram project to reintroduce a sustainable, affordable transport network to the Swansea Bay City Region, South West Wales and beyond.

Created in 1992, the society has achieved charitable status and become a social enterprise organisation under the inspirational lead of CEO^▸ (Chief Executive Officer) Captain Mike Smith and his team of dedicated volunteers.

Supported by a number of charity shops in Ammanford, Gwaun Cae Gurwen and Pontardawe, AVRS has recently taken on Enterprise House, a vast new warehouse premises in Llamsamlet, where it holds regular covered bring and buy markets, charity auctions and a number of other events and attractions.

EH has become the hub of the Society^s activities and is now making a significant contribution to AVRS finances.

Despite the organisation^s ambitious aims, it remains rooted firmly in the local population and its need for transport, recreation and employment.

Over the past four years the AVR Group of companies has conducted detailed studies including a feasibility study for S9L

I'm all for new suburban rail and/or tram lines in and around Swansea: I cannot understand why the 'South-East Wales Metro', the Cardiff/Newport city region and, most recently, the Great Western cities aliance do not include Swansea...

I can't help but wonder though, whether the 2nd generation rail proposal was intended as an April fool. Huge reductions in rolling stock weight? Just sounds too good to be true, and there's no explanation of how they think they could do it.
