Flooding on the A487 left some motorists stranded on Friday

Motorists and commuters in parts of Powys have been warned of disruption on the roads and trains due to flooding.

Arriva Trains Wales services between Machynlleth and Shrewsbury were suspended and the A487 Dyfi Bridge was shut between Ffordd Mynydd Griffiths and A493.

Natural Resources Wales (NRW» (Network Rail Western - about)) had a number flood alerts and one flood warning in place.

A Met Office yellow alert for rain has now been lifted. Forecasters say Friday should see drier and colder weather move in after two days of heavy rain over higher ground.

Arriva Trains Wales says journeys to Machynlleth from Shrewsbury have resumed, but are still facing delays of about 20 minutes.

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.
