Looking at the FGW (First Great Western) booking site and one or two other sites it seems that the easement to use offpeak tickets/senior railcards on the 0728 Worcester Foregate Street to Paddington is no more.

However on the National Rail site it's still there. And Virgin

What is the situation in the real world?

It would appear that FGW (First Great Western)'s booking engine is not applying the easement for Senior Railcards in the Network Area on this fare.

http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/ticket_types/64097.aspx

Although that says (on Anytime fares) it should apply to the Off Peak Return (via Evesham) also. The discount is being applied correctly on FGW's booking engine to HM Forces Railcard, but not the Senior or Family.

Suggest you contact FGW to ask what's going on. In the meantime, buy from a booking engine that is applying the discount correctly. I note that SWT (South West Trains)'s is giving the correct fare with a Senior Railcard.

Many thanks for that

I normally buy on the train so don't book ahead - but it's as well to know what to expect
