Lobbying and affluence of the area might also be factors.  Not sure whether Tilehurst's figures might be slighly higher than they actually are due to unpaid fares at Reading, given that it's the cheapest fare to Reading - with the exception of Reading West which also has a suspiciously high figure!

These stations were all closed for a large part of the year due to the problems on the Cambrian Coast line so a large percentage drop is only to be expected.  Since they have only just reopened I do not expect much change in the 2014/15 figures.

For anyone who wants to read the file, I tried openning it in the standard Windows Notepad last night but it doesn't display the contents particularly well. Notepad++ did a better job, at a guess the file has Linux-style line endings.

In the Cotswold and Malvern Line league table, Hanborough has now moved ahead of Ledbury as well.

It's a Tab separated text file. Best to rename it .txt and then open it in the spreadsheet of your choice, selecting Tab as the field separator.

I've commented on the Melksham figure as it gives an official (published) figure that includes - for the first time - part of the improved trial extra service period.
