This time, I'm going to post two pictures, both taken at the same location, but facing in opposite directions. I'm not going to give any clues, other than that this location is within the current Great Western franchise area. I'm also going to lock this topic, for the first 24 hours, to give everyone a chance to guess / work out / know for a fact exactly where I was today, without getting any clues from other poster's suggestions or answers. Any member of the Coffee Shop forum who would like to suggest where I was today should simply send your answer to me in a Personal Message. I'll be at work tomorrow, so I won't be able to read any of them, or reply to them, until tomorrow evening - and I therefore won't be able to offer any clues or hints to help anyone either - for the first 24 hours.      |

With apologies for the slight delay in my doing so, I have now unlocked this topic.  I've already received one answer in a PM from a member who was 'fairly sure' they had identified the location, but they were actually some way off - about 90 miles or so - with their suggestion. I note that my initial post in this topic has already been read some 70 times and will welcome any posts from anyone here on the Coffee Shop forum who would now like to suggest a location for those pictures. Hmm.  Whilst it's perhaps not impossible, I saw absolutely no evidence of the presence of any pigs anywhere at that location.  |

Then I think you were in Moor Lane at what would have been a level crossing on the Weston, Clevedon and Portishead Light Railway.

Well done trainer. I'd guessed the right railway just the wrong location. I'd picked the site of Ham Lane halt the other side of Clevedon.

It took me a while to convince myself I might be right - I'm not that good at many of these picture quizzes. However, I visit the end of that road fairly frequently and the view from my friend's kitchen window came to mind. Ham Lane is much flatter, I think. Anyway, all good fun and thanks to all those who take the trouble to post these brain teasers. I'm watching out for Waitrose vans parked up in the areas of railway interest! |

On that particular occasion, then, you would have been none the wiser - I was driving a completely unbranded white van. However: I, too, would like to thank everyone who posts in response to these 'lighter side' quiz topics - hopefully, they do add to the interest in the Coffee Shop forum. And, to member 'trainer', I'd like to acknowledge his leap of faith in identifying that distant range of hills between the Gordano Valley and Portishead - I thought, when I posted those pictures, that they might very well give the game away. |

I remember giving that exact same location to one of your 'where was I today?' locations in the past ! Despite your protestations to the contrary, I think you were staking out the Waitrose operation in Portishead, seeing how many people were driving along enemy territory . i.e the road through the Gordano valley, instead of the Tickenham Road !. You can hardly deny that you were probably at the midway point between the Nailsea and Posset branches ! |
