This is very much a last-minute arrangement - member Ollie and I only set it up this evening, on the spur of the moment, as we both happen to be free tomorrow.  Tongue

If anyone is able / would like to join us, we'll be meeting initially in Bonaparte's, on platform 3 at Bristol Temple Meads, at 12:00, then probably moving on to the Knights Templar (Wetherspoons), just outside the station in Temple Quay, from 13:00 onwards.

For ease of identification, and to avoid missing people as has unfortunately happened in the past, I'll be wearing my orange hi-viz vest.  Roll Eyes Grin

We look forward to seeing you there!

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Sorry, Chris ... I'm talking at 12:15 in Melksham on the history of rail in the town at part of the Melksham Heritage Discovery Fair ... and I have been busy writing my talk these last few days.

If you are free NEXT Saturday (12th July) make a diary note to come to Melksham (let me know what train you'll be arriving on up to 3 p.m.), hear the talk but much more polished after tomorrow's dress rehearsal, and walk with us in the carnival parade to hand out train leaflets, which came back from printing by one of the CRP▸ (Community Rail Partnership) members today.      We will be early in the parade so you'll be at the station for a 20:00 train departure - big "thank you" to the organisers for having us near the front!

Having now returned home safely (and apparently none the worse for my experience Roll Eyes ), I'd like to thank bobm and Ollie for joining me in a very enjoyable social event this afternoon.  Wink Cheesy Grin

It was always going to be a very few who could attend at such short notice, and the apologies we received from grahame, bignosemac and John R (to name a few) showed that, with rather more notice, we could have had a considerably higher head-count at such an occasion.  Embarrassed

Please watch out for a future invitation to a similar event, but one with much more forward planning in its ... err, planning.  Wink Cheesy Grin
