I wish the Railway industry would stop using the term "coaches" and use "Carriages" instead, because the term "Coaches" has caused some members of the Public to stand around waiting on the road OUTSIDE the station expecting a fleet of Road coaches to turn up, whilst their 8 coach train departs leaving them waiting in the road.

I know it's a silly thing to do but there is "Nought as odd as folk"

There is always the US version, "cars",  or the eastern european "wagons"   :-)
