Important information for travel to Oxford during Easter

First Great Western is encouraging customers travelling between Oxford and London over Easter to check journey times and routes prior to departure, as Crossrail engineering works take place in the London Thames Valley.

The works will see services to Oxford reduced to a weekend timetable between Friday 18 April and Monday 21 April. A revised train service will operate as follows:
^        London Paddington to Oxford (fast): two trains an hour calling additionally at Maidenhead (one on a Sunday)
^        London Paddington to Reading (direct): four per hour
^        London Paddington to Reading (stopping services): two trains an hour
^        London Paddington to Newbury/Bedwyn: services will start from Reading
^        Thames Valley branch lines: will run to a Saturday timetable, except Sunday
^        Services to Greenford: will operate to a Saturday timetable (there is no Sunday service on this route)
^        Heathrow Connect: two trains an hour (one on a Sunday)
^        Heathrow Express: two trains an hour

FGW^▸ (First Great Western) Head of Crossrail and Thames Valley Upgrade, James Adeshiyan, said: ^These are vital infrastructure works to achieve greater capacity and flexibility for future Crossrail and Great Western services. We have worked closely with our colleagues at Network Rail to keep disruption to a minimum.^

Customers for Hanwell are advised that they will need to use services to Southall and change there to return to Hanwell Station.

Customers from Hanwell and West Ealing travelling towards Southall, Hayes & Harlington, Heathrow Airport and stations to Slough and Reading are advised to use train services to Ealing Broadway and change there for onward rail connections. Tickets will be accepted on Transport for London bus services to Southall.

Crossrail is the new ^16bn high frequency, high capacity railway for London and the South East that will connect Heathrow and Maidenhead in the West to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the East. It requires the enhancement of 13 stations on the FGW network and their surrounding areas between London Paddington and Maidenhead ^ and promises faster journey times
