A mural commissioned by First Great Western and depicting life in Bristol was unveiled this week by the Lord Mayor of Bristol Cllr Royston Griffey J.P (link below.)
http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/NewsItem.aspx?id=576Local artist David Bowers of Mosaic Madness created the mural at Bristol Temple Meads station with the help of Bristol based community group ^art + power.^ The design was based on the results of a survey carried out by First Great Western to find out what Bristol means to the people who live and work there. When asked to name key icons in the city, The Clifton suspension Bridge proved to be the most popular reply, followed by the SS Great Britain and Bristol Cathedral.
The mural has three panels and each one is made from broken tiles and is almost two meters tall and over a meter in width. It is displayed in the station^s subway and it took the artists four days to complete.
