We're looking to get lots of people (and, yes, I have a technical definition of "lots" somewhere else!) on every TransWilts Train in 2014.   Saving people commute time and money.  Getting business people to businesses, college goers to college, judges and witnesses to court, and everyone to and from family and leisure trips.

I'm not sure, John ... I'll take a look. 

We're looking to many channel exposure of the TransWilts, so there may well be some places we reach which restrict their audience to members only.  But every best effort will be made to ensure that all pertinent information is posted on the TransWilts CRP^▸ (Community Rail Partnership) page at http://atrebatia.info or here, where it may be a bit anorak/geeky at times, but at least it is public.

I'm not sure, John ... I'll take a look. 

Facebook restricts access to know people who fit the demographic of what the page owner has requested, and they are only public visible if all these limits are turned off.   Here are three possible reasons that people get a log in request when they call up a Facebook page such as ours (all things for us to  potentially fix)

1. Ensured there is no country blocking (there wasn't anyway)
2. Ensured there is no age restriction (there wasn't anyway)
3. "Other / Community" is also said to block, and I have changed it to Companies and Organisations: Travel / Leisure

Can you have another try please, and let me know ... better that way that me logging out and it, as Facebook tends at times to trust IP addresses as well.

Yes, it probably is.   I'm learning a lot about Facebook too ... I'm only semi-literate on it.  That other post was made about 10 days ago, and I don't think I can move it from my account to TransWilts without breaking other things, and I can only restrict who can see it now rather than make it more public.

Can you halve your commuting costs? If you drive from Melksham to Swindon every day, then, yes, you can. Driving costs between ^3000 and ^4800 per annum. Annual season ticket on train ^1476, and 16 trains a day now call at Melksham. Car parking at Melksham Station is free of charge, and I haven't even included cost of parking in Swindon in those costs. Car (according to Connecting Wiltshire) takes 50 minutes. Train takes under 30 ...

Big time and money savings for other journeys to such as London, Reading, Bristol, Filton ... and many people make good use of their time in a train to read, text, tweet, work or sleep - please don't try those when driving

"Is there a catch" ... only that it doesn't work for some journeys if where you're headed isn't near a station, or if you have to be very specific in timing, and there's no train at that time.

Note - that's the December season ticket price.

I see you there - thank you.   I'm not a big Facebook user, but it is where so many of our potential users go online.   I've distinctly put my "publicity" hat on and I'm looking to have that page as a changing, moving advert.

I definitely liked this page though I've not seen anything extra as a result and not sure if any of my facebook friends see anything extra as a result either

I've had a look for you all and a few points from me if I may.

You can only "Like" or "Follow" a Facebook Page. Becoming a friend works only with a "Personal Account" or an account which is a personal one but given the name of the organisation it represents (I recommend using the Pages option and not a Personal Account as has already been done )

With the Pages you can delegate Administrative Powers to other Facebook Users if you need and they can made edits etc on the Page Owners behalf. Something Personal Accounts do not allow without everyone knowing the same password and email address login etc.

The other thing about pages is you can post on other users pages as "TransWilts" and I have seen this done on a few occasions as well as done it myself (I run a few Facebook Pages)

With regards to those not logged into Facebook, I did a 46 second long Screen Capture which shows what you can and cannot do when looking at the page without being logged into Facebook with an account.

You can:

• Open links posted on the page
• View any posts that are posted as Public

However to Comment or Like a post as soon as you press it, you get asked to login as the video shows.

I'm learning too, Jo ... I'll probably add another post there in the morning and that may come to you ... and I think it needs a "share" to go on to your timeline / friends pages.  And ... hey, it's probably more relevant here in Wiltshire - Maidenhead to Melksham / Trowbridge isn't an identified major flow unless you know better

Following on from thetrout's post, a "Page" rather than a "Personal Account" also allows posts to be scheduled in advance.  E.g. it looks like I posted at 00:00 this morning, despite not being near a computer or able to get any phone signal at the time.

The fact that you've liked the page appears on your Time Line at the very bottom left, in a box headed "Recent Activity".  It will sometimes (and I'm yet to work out the criteria for this*) show in your friend's news feeds that you've liked this.

* = My latest guess is people marked as "Close Friends" and people who view/interact with often, but there appear to be many exceptions

Baffles me too. I'm a member of my flying club's page, and I have no idea how that happened. I click on a few buttons, and see what happens, so far without disaster.
